Choose what stays on this Mac
Keep files downloaded for offline use, free up space, and set how much disk Syncophant may use.
Files on your storage show in Finder without taking space on your Mac. Syncophant downloads a file when you open it, and may remove that download later to stay under its space limit. This guide shows how to control that.
Keep a file or folder on this Mac
Right-click it in Finder and choose Keep Downloaded. Its status changes to Kept on this Mac.
Kept files are never removed to save space. For a folder, everything inside it is kept, including files added later.
To undo it, right-click and choose Stop Keeping Downloaded.
Free up space now
Right-click a file or folder in Finder and choose Remove Download. The file stays on your storage and in Finder; only the copy on your Mac goes. Open it again to download it.
Set the space limit
- Open Settings › Transfers.
- Under Space on this Mac, drag the slider. The limit applies to each storage. The default is 5 GB.
- Choose Apply Limit Now to remove recently opened files above the limit straight away.
Syncophant never removes a file to save space if it is kept, still uploading, changed on this Mac and not yet uploaded, or in a state it can’t be sure about. Those files stay even when the total goes over the limit.
